PRODUCT INFORMATION

POMS pieces are made from a combination of materials such as base metals, which are plated, and sterling silver which is gold plated or oxidised, silk threads and hand made beading techniques. All pieces come in a specialised POMS pouch.

Sterling silver is a mixture of pure silver and other metals, mainly copper, which give these metal strength. The standard is at least 92.5% pure silver, you will note a '925' stamp on the sterling silver items produced by POMS.

Gold-plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold onto the surface of another metal. All POMS jewellery gold plated items are 24kt gold plated over sterling silver with multiple layers. This allows for subtle wearing as under the gold is sterling silver.

Gold-plating does eventually wear off; each time the piece rubs against another surface, it wears down the gold. The wearing process can be slowed down if you take good care of your plated item.

To care for your gold plated item;

  • Avoid bumping / hitting / scratching your plated ring on a hard or abrasive surface. The more the piece rubs on various surfaces the more it will wear the plating.
  • Avoid direct contact with chemicals / fake tan / moisturisers / perfume.
  • Avoid wearing gold plated jewellery in the shower, swimming, cleaning, exercising or doing dishes.
  • Clean the gold plated ring with soft cotton cloth and warm water. Use a tiny drop of liquid soap if needed. Do not use jewellery cloth as it usually contains chemical that will scrub off the surface.

Oxidised sterling silver is darkened metal of sterling silver. It is a decorative treatment. The oxidising happens when the sterling silver is exposed to specific chemicals and oxygen. Oxidising does eventually wear off; each time the piece rubs against another surface, it wears down the treatment. The wearing process can be slowed down if you take good care of your oxidised item.

To care for your oxidised item;

Do not use jewelry cloth as it usually contains chemical that will scrub off the surface.

POMS uses semi-precious stones and crystals. Crystals naturally vary in colour and size. Your piece has individual characteristics and although equally as beautiful and unique, will vary slightly from the image you may see on the website.
